For as long as I can remember, I have
been obsessed with loved footwear. So long as they were cute, I didn’t care if they were functional or comfortable. Well, sometime in the past few years, the tides have changed. Now comfort and practicality are pretty high on the list of priorities. 28 going on 80?
Boots have been a constant staple in my wardrobe for years. It used to be the higher the heel, the more I coveted the boot. However, dealing with major IT Band issues a few years back forced me to become more of a non-existent heel, riding boot kinda gal, and so far I am loving the transition. Contrary to popular belief, you can wear orthotics in shoes and still be cute, honest.
With my new self-imposed challenge of transforming my entire wardrobe to be cruetly-free, I have been on the lookout for some new kicks. Additionally, living by a Great Lake, it is safe to say we get our fair share of weather, and it tends to be wet a good portion of the year. Why do I live here again?
For the past few years I have craved my very own pair of Hunter Wellingtons. They tend to be pricier than the average galoshes, so I always went for a cheaper version a la Target and Payless. Each year I have had to replace my rain boots by year’s end because they just don’t last. Trust me, I am sickened by my wasteful ways.
For the past few weeks I have tortured myself by checking out Wellies in every color under the rainbow, I researched the product and made sure they were cruelty-free. Then I tried to score a deal by scouring every website I could get my fingertips on, but was unsuccessful in doing so. Finally, last night, while alone on Valentine’s Day because the Mr. is at a work conference all week, I didn’t have chocolates or roses or anything else to distract me, so I took the plunge. I swooped up a pair from Zappos, and they arrived at my doorstep less than 24 hours after I clicked the order button. Technology is so
Okay, okay. I admit, they are no Manolos and I am not Carrie Bradshaw, but I can’t deny my heart skipped a beat when I opened the box to find my very own classic green wellies staring back at me.
They fit so well, and they complimented my black jeggings perfectly!
I got a lil’ carried away on my lunch break, snapping photos in my new boots, dreaming up potential outfits.
Then my baby kitty Scout decided to join in on the fun. This my friends is a diva, she LOVES checking herself out in mirrors. I couldn’t resist sharing this photo op!
So there ya have it folks! I’m feeling really good about my purchase, no buyer’s remorse here. I feel like I invested in a tried and true brand and a product that will last for years to come.
What kind of outfit should I pair my wellies with first?
